About us

The Resource Discovery and Management Division was created in 2018 with the merger of Technical Services, Collection Development, and Library Information Technology. RDM handles a wide variety of logistical, selection, evaluation, and discovery for resources acquired by the University Libraries. We are located in Coe Library 635. Some activities handled by RDM include:

  • Acquiring materials in many different formats to support the educational, research and outreach mission of the University
  • Selecting, evaluating, and assessing library resources to ensure we meet the evolving needs of our user community
  • Providing intellectual access to collections through cataloging, metadata, and database maintenance activities
  • Fiscal management of the collection budget allocations
  • Maintaining the Libraries' Discovery systems to enable our user community to quickly and accurately find needed resources
  • Preservation of the physical collections
  • Receipt, check-in, and binding of print periodicals and serials
  • Transfer and withdrawal of materials
  • Special projects as assigned.
