Free Music, Sound Effects, Photos, and Videos to use in your projects

Here are sites that have royalty-free, 3.0 Creative Commons, and Public Domain music, sound effects, photos and videos.  Studio Coe also has Garageband software that you can use to create your own music.

Music and Sound Effects

  • Incompetech.com – Has a variety of music that can be download and used with attribution. Music can be filtered by Feel, Tempo, Genre, and Length in order to find the perfect background music for your projects. The music is free to use under the Creative Commons license so long as credit and attribution are given. License Policy can be found here
  • YouTube Audio Library – Has a vast catalog of music and sound effects available for use in videos. Anything marked with the YouTube Audio Library License is free for use on any videos. Attribution/credit seems to be required on a case-by-case basis. This option does also require a Gmail account.
  • SoundBible – Has a vast library of sound effects. Anything marked as Royalty Free, Attribution 3.0, or Public Domain is free for use.
  • Soundgator – Like SoundBible, Soundgator is also a library of sound effects. Everything on this website is free to download and use in projects and doesn't require attribution. For more information on their Licensing policy, look here.

Photos and Videos

  • Pixabay – Has stock video, photos, audio, and other media. Anything under the Pixabay License is free to use without attribution (although it is appreciated). Please note that when searching for videos, be careful not to click on anything labeled as Sponsored by iStock, as these assets are not free for download. For more information about licensing or the website’s terms of use, follow this link

  • Pexels – Has stock photos and videos. Like with Pixabay, these photos and videos are free to use/download and while definitely appreciated, attribution isn’t required. More information about their licensing can be found here, and the terms of service/use can be found here.

  •  Videvo – Has videos, audio, and motion graphics. For free assets, filter searches by checking the “Free” box (and unchecking the “Premium” one). Premium videos also have a thunderbolt icon in the lower left-hand corner of their thumbnails while Free videos have “FREE” in the lower left-hand corner. Please note that a lot of the assets do require attribution, and will specify when you click on the video to view/download it. More information about licensing and attribution can be found here.

  • Unsplash – Has a lot of wonderful high-quality photography. All photos can be downloaded and used for free. Attribution isn't necessary, but it is highly appreciated and generally good practice. Their policy on licensing can be found here
