ORCID: Connecting your ORCID to other services

This resource provides information about creating and managing an ORCID profile in order to better manage your scholarship and to increase the visibility of your work.

Connecting to WyoVita

WyoVita (or WyoFolio/Faculty 180) is the system that the University of Wyoming uses for evaluation and promotion. You can use ORCID to populate your WyoVita profile. Make sure that you have a robust and up-to-date ORCID profile. Connect your ORCID profile to WyoVita to automatically populate your scholarship, grants, affiliations and biography.

  1. Log into your WyoVita account
  2. Go to the "Vitas & Biosketches" tab on the left hand side bar, then choose "Legacy Vitas."
  3. Under "Vita/Profile Systems," ORCID will be listed; you can click the far right hand button labelled "Create or Connect your ORCID ID" to begin the process.

Connecting your ORCID profile directly to WyoVita is the easiest way to ensure that your WyoVita is up-to-date. However, if you do not wish to connect the profiles, there are other ways to import your scholarship from ORCID into WyoVita. Email me for more details!

Connect ORCID to Your Other Author Profiles

While comprehensive, ORCiD can be linked with other accounts and author profiles you may have on other platforms. This can be a great way to streamline your virtual resume and ensure that all your works are properly credited to you.

If you already have an author profile such as Scopus ID, SciEnCV, Biosketch, Google Scholar, or Publons (formerly Researcher ID from Web of Science), you can connect these profiles to your ORCID profile and transfer the information easily.

Tutorials for Linking Accounts & Works

There are two options for linking - from your Scopus account, or from your ORCiD profile. Both work the same way.

  • From Scopus:
    • Go to your "Profile Actions" button once you are logged in
      •  Click on the "Connect to ORCiD" option
      • Follow the directions to finish linking the accounts
  • From ORCiD:
    • Go to the "Works" section and select "Add Works"
      • Select "Search and Link"
      • Select Elsevier and Scopus, and authorize them
      • Follow the directions to finish linking the accounts
  • There is a full, detailed guide on this process from Clarivate - view here.
  • Follow this guide from ORCiD on how to link Researcher ID / Publons to your account here.

More information regarding the Web of Science, Researcher ID, and Publons interconnectivity:

  • Publons is an online research profile website for researchers to track and showcase their peer review activities, editorial contributions and publications. Web of Science citation metrics. Publons has joined the Web of Science, and has been renamed as Web of Science Researcher Profile.
  • ResearcherID is a free author identifier used by Web of Science. It assigns a unique identifier to each registered researcher. This system enables researchers to manage their publication lists, track citations and h-index, identify potential collaborators and avoid author misidentification.
    • If you have a ResearcherID already, but haven't registered with Publons, you can login to the Publons website using the same email and password you used for ResearcherID. Your ResearcherID will appear on your Publons profile

Special thanks to the Aukland University of Technology LibGuide, found here.

You can add works specifically via DOI or PubMed ID.

Both Crossref and Datacite have unique options to auto-update within your ORCiD profile, via providing special permissions.
