Pharmacists get many types of questions from patients. When providing patient education materials, the same principles of currency, reliability, authority, accuracy and purpose apply. In addition, care must be given to match the patient's health information literacy to the appropriate level of information. General reading materials, such as newspapers, are written at approximately 6th grade level. Illustrations should be clear and simple, and patients with vision problems will need a larger font, and some will need with font on black background.
