K-12 Teacher's Guide to the Library: Policies

Registration

To check out library materials, students must have a library card. There is no charge to register for a library card. All students under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian complete a Parental Permission form and submit a copy of their parent's/guardian's government issued photo ID. After receiving these items, the library will issue a library card.

  • The parent or guardian is responsible for any charges assessed for long overdue, lost or damaged books.
  • Student borrowers must update their registration annually until they turn 18 years of age.
  • Students must notify the library of any change of address. This may be done by phone, mail, email or fax.

Borrowing

  • Students may borrow a maximum of 15 books at a time.
  • The loan period for books located in the stacks is 28 days. Some books will have a shorter loan period (like those from popular reading). A book may be renewed twice if no one else has requested the book. For complete loan period details click here.
  • Books can be renewed online from here. Since students visiting from schools are not affiliated with the University of Wyoming, they will need to provide their name and barcode number from their library card for access to renewing materials.
  • Self-service scanning is available on Level 2 of Coe Library, near the Help Desk. Documents may be saved to email, usb flash drive, and more.
