Award-Winning Books for Kids

Batchelder Award
Award for outstanding children’s book originally published in a language other than English in a country other the U.S.. This book would have been subsequently translated into English for publication in the United States.
Caldecott Medal
Annual award for distinguished picture books for children.
Coretta Scott King Award
The Coretta Scott King Book Awards are given annually to outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.
Geisel Award
Annual award for author(s) and illustrator(s) for distinguished American book for beginning readers.
Newbery Medal
Annual award to distinguished book for children.
Orbis Pictus Award
The NCTE Orbis Pictus Award was established in 1989 for promoting and recognizing excellence in the writing of nonfiction for children.
Pura Belpré Award
Award given annually to a Latino/a writer and illustrator whose work examines the Latino cultural experience.
Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal
Annual award for the author and illustrator of a distinguished informational book for children.
Wilder Award
Award for honoring an author or illustrator whose books have made an impact on literature for children over time.
Wyoming Buckaroo Books
Wyoming kids K-3 choose their favorite books.
Wyoming Indian Paintbrush Books

Award-winning Books for Teens

Alex Awards
Given to 10 books published in the previous year. The books were written for adults, but have a particular appeal to teens ages 12-18.
Edwards Award
This annual award recognizes an author's work in helping teens become aware of themselves and their role in the world.
Morris Award
Award to honor a debut author of an outstanding book for young adults.
Printz Award Winners
Awarded annually to an excellent book for young adults.
