Pharmacy : LibKey Nomad

This guide provides information on databases available to students and faculty at UW, including information helpful while on clinical rotation.

Introduction

LibKey Nomad can help you find full-text articles through UW Libraries on websites like PubMed

LibKey Nomad

LibKey Nomad is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. It is intended to help researchers who are using Google Scholar, Wikipedia, PubMed, or other platforms.

Nomad helps connect a researcher to content available through the researcher's primary academic library. The tool directs the researcher to the best available version of an article, so there is no need to search across other platforms.

If the full text is not available through the University of Wyoming Libraries, the researcher will be directed to the interlibrary loan (ILL) service.

You do not need to create a unique account to use LibKey Nomad. Users may be prompted to sign onto the library service using their WyoWeb username and password.

Get Connected:

1. Visit LibKey Nomad website. Scroll to the bottom of the webpage and install the appropriate extension for your preferred browser (or browsers). Follow the browser prompts to add the extension.

LibKey.io

LibKey.io allows a researcher to locate articles by DOI (digital object identifier) or PMID (PubMed ID). These are unique numbers assigned to publications. Entering a DOI or PMID in a web browser will usually locate the article, but problems arise when the article is located behind a paywall or another institution's access portal. The LibKey.io has a unique ID for University of Wyoming Libraries, which allows lands the researchers on content they are able to immediately access.

The unique ID/URL for UW is https://libkey.io/libraries/145.

Click this link or enter it into a browser tab. We recommend bookmarking this URL. The landing page looks as follows:

The extension searches the holdings of the UW Libraries and locates the article. The article can be downloaded as a PDF or a link can be copies. There is also an option to have the app remember the download choice for 24 hours. If the researcher clicks on the "View Article in Context" link at the bottom of the webpage, the entire issue of the journal will be opened up.
