Access Popular e-collections with OverDrive & Libby

Introduction to OverDrive:

The OverDrive Virtual Library replaced the Cloud Library service to provide even more digital content to UW faculty, staff, and students. Community borrowers and Wyoming state residents may access OverDrive through their local public library. OverDrive, and it's mobile app counterpart, Libby is the easiest way to get started with popular e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, and more from UW Libraries and all Wyoming state libraries.

Borrowers can access a world of downloadable reading and listening using OverDrive.

How to Access:

  1. Visit the Wyoming Virtual Library at: https://virtuallibrary.overdrive.com/ 
  2. Click Sign-In 
  3. Select "University of Wyoming" as your library
  4. Sign in using your UWYO username and password

Introduction to Libby:
The free Libby app is the easiest way to get started with e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, and more from UW Libraries and all Wyoming state libraries from your mobile device or tablet. All you need to do is download the app and sign in to our library using your UWYO username and password to begin browsing the digital collection.

Getting Started:
Getting started is easy! Just follow these simple instructions:

  1. Install the Libby app from the app store on your Android or iOS device (for other app options, please see below).
  2. In Libby, follow the prompts to find the University of Wyoming and sign in with your UWYO username and password
  3. Browse the digital collection and borrow a title.

What you'll need:
What do you need to enjoy free instant access to digital e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and more:

  • Your UWYO username and password
  • Internet Access
  • A smartphone, tablet, or e-reader (Kindle, Nook, etc)
  • The free Libby app, which can be downloaded for free from your device's app store

Borrowing Privileges:

  • Titles may be checked out for 14 days.  
  • Titles may be renewed if:
  1. request is made 3 or more days before the due date AND
  2. the items has no holds
  • Items are automatically returned on the due date.
  • 10 items may be checked out at a time.

Quick Tips

If a title is not available, you can place a hold.

  • After you place a hold, view your spot in line by going to your Shelf, tapping Holds, then tapping the calendar icon.

  • After you place a hold, go to Shelf > Holds and tap the calendar icon. You'll see your approximate wait time, the number of copies in use, and the number of people waiting.

You can save time by saving your preferences. 

  • Tap Preferences at the top of your library's home screen, or at the top of any list. Adjust your filters and default sorting option. Tap Apply Preferences.

You can explore more book recommendations.

  • Tap Explore at the top of your library's home screen to discover your next great read. Search by subject, popularity, what's available, and more.

You can add more than one library card.

  • Tap the Libby icon in the top right corner, then tap Add a Library. You can search by name or zip code.

Additional Information

In addition to working with Apple and Android devices, Libby works with:

  • Windows computers, Mac computers, and Chromebooks (access Libby at libbyapp.com). The latest version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge is recommended.
  • Kindles– After using the Libby app on your phone, tablet, or computer, you may send checked-out materials directly to your Kindle. Learn more here.
  • Nook, Kobo, or similar e-readers–You can download books on a computer, then use Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to transfer them to your device. Learn more here.
